The liberals keep pushing to urbanized Fayette County.

We need jobs to give younger families a reason to move here. We have everything else.

  Survey
Posted by: Don Haddix - 06-14-2019, 10:08 PM - Forum: Issues - No Replies

Considering the actions of the councils from 2014 on, everyone should answer this survey.

And everyone should be very blunt about how they feel.

And work to elect two new councilmembers this year that will actually work for the benefit of Peachtree City.

When you click into the article notice how options are stacked to conform to their efforts to change Peachtree City into their vision.

No options for preserving such as the Village Concept.

And keeping taxes affordable instead of reducing taxes to be more affordable.

  Commuting to Atlanta
Posted by: Don Haddix - 06-11-2019, 06:27 PM - Forum: Issues - Replies (1)

Commuting to Atlanta is an ongoing issue for Peachtree City.

The simple reality is we need the jobs here.

Peachtree City leads the nation in losing its youth and growth in retiree population.

More homes, retail, recreation and entertainment does not attract workforce. If they did we would already have all the jobs workforce we need.

Jobs attract workforce.

A sound economic environment attracts employers.

But with the highest taxes in the state, Peachtree City is not very attractive any longer.

Most of the employees in Peachtree City do not live in Peachtree city.

Our spending needs to be more like running a home where where you don't spend what you do not have. Where needs come before wants.

I do not remember this being publicized, but there are a number of projects in it for Peachtree City.

It is interesting that the 54/74 intersection is not on the GDOT site.

Food for thought and memories, at least for some people.

  Budget
Posted by: Don Haddix - 06-04-2019, 01:25 PM - Forum: Issues - No Replies

A fellow councilmember and I wanted to privatize the tennis center. We even had a buyer,

But a three vote on council stopped us. So we proposed outsourcing, which was passed and cut $200,000 a year from the budget. But it still remained in the red and has ever since.

We proposed the same for the Kedron Center. But that got shot down all the way around and remains a money drain.

As for the sports fields the vast majority of users do not pay Peachtree City taxes.

Please indulge me for a point of personal privilege

Looking for something else I stumbled across this.

Please indulge me for a point of personal privilege to respond to those few council supporters who attacked me with incomplete claims.

This shows the efforts to suppress First Amendment rights of elected officials and citizens is not new in Peachtree City.

Beware of those who love to label those who disagree with them as being negative.
